Moon House Chinese Cuisine: Authentic Cantonese Dim Sum & More

My husband and I love Moon House. The food is fantastic. The environment is meh but the service is terrific. They have lunch specials that are a great introduction to the restaurant. Some of our favorites are: Beef with broccoli Shrimp with walnuts Shrimp with garden vegetables War won ton soup I've always wanted to try their duck.. it's next on the list.. The only downside to Moon House is that they raised their prices again. It's now over $28 for the crispy walnut shrimp. Almost $20 for an order of Won Ton Soup. So definitely go, but try it for lunch first. You won't regret it.. and the parking is pretty good too!

We came on a weekday afternoon without particularly high expectations, the restaurant is pretty small and wasn't too busy, but we were super pleasantly surprised! We thought the prices were a little high at first but realized that the portions were huge. Two lunch entrees were plenty for our party of three and they also came with large bowls of rice and bowls of soup. Flavors were great and very authentic. Overall was very impressed and would love to come again

Stopped in for lunch during the week because I work close by. It was quite busy when I arrived for a 1 PM lunch, but was able to be seated right away. Service took a bit to arrive and be able to place the order, but the food items arrived out fairly quickly. It's not very large on the inside only a handful of tables and booths available. It's in a small strip mall just east of the 405 and has a lot of free parking spaces available with its attached parking lot. The menu is fairly large and they do have a lot of great options, and overall the food is good however, not great. Los Angeles has a lot of really great Chinese restaurants and this is definitely a good one, but there are other better ones in town. I ordered an iced tea, but received a hot tea, which was fine, because I can go either way. I started with the Har Gow and it actually arrived after my entrée did, but they were good and larger than I was expecting. For my entrée, I chose the Beef and Broccoli and thought it was pretty good however, a bit more expensive than I was expecting for what you get. One of my favorite Chinese restaurants is Chin Chin in West Hollywood, and they charge only a few dollars more for theirs so I felt the pricing here is a bit too high. Overall, I would recommend for a lunch option, especially if you are in the area. It's not my favorite, but it's certainly worth trying.

Tasty and reliable! The duck soup was delicious, the dim sum was good not great and the seafood porridge was very nourishing. Went for lunch on a weekend with no wait and no delay in service. Will be back!

On the west side, there aren't many good Chinese restaurants. Although it's in a strip mall that feels a little unsafe, the food was amazing. It ended up becoming my go-to; I even ordered catering for work events from them. I would recommend the Peking Duck, the seafood tofu clay pot, the eggplants, and the honey walnut shrimp! If you live around the area, you might even occasionally get their promo flyers for additional discounts!

We tried the Peking Duck, and it was flavorful, especially when wrapped into buns with scallion and hoisin sauce. The presentation was lovely. The Beef with Black Bean & Chili Sauce was another tasty dish. The flank steak was tender, and the black bean sauce added a nice kick to the dish. *One great thing to note, if you're a UCLA student, they offer a discount, which is a nice bonus! Moon House is a solid choice for Chinese cuisine, and I'd recommend trying their Peking Duck for a unique culinary experience.

Cheap eats, but quite decent! At this writing, their HALF PRICE Peking Duck (ends 7/31/23) is drawing a fair amount of customers. For $36 you get a whole duck, sliced table side into nice pieces so you can wrap them in the soft buns with green onions and cilantros, and of course the sweet and savory sauce. This is one of those corner mall mediocre-looking Chinese eateries that foodies tend to avoid. Not much ambiance to speak of. And service sure fits the typical Chinese restaurant's stereotype-- not bad but everyone seems too busy to give you any extra attention .... But if you're the food first type of eaters, then most of these may be overlooked.... We've tried them a few times and even without the duck special they are pretty decent. Most dishes are around $20 and portion size is good. These days it's likely the lowest you'd have to pay in any halfway decent restaurants. Great place to get takeouts! Plenty of free parking in front - which is rare for west LA.

My family took a spontaneous trip down south for my birthday dinner based on reviews on Yelp. I'm so glad we visited. As soon as we walked in, the place was busy, but we were seated right away. They took our order and we probably ordered more than we should have because everything sounded delicious. The duck was my most favorite thing here. I loved everything, but the duck was the best! I would love to come back and have that amazing meal again. I have no complaints at all. Food came out super fast, food was delicious and nice and hot. Service was fantastic. It seems like a family owned business. We didn't interact a whole lot w any of the staff so I can only base our interaction with the fast service. This place seems to be a popular spot because there's a lot of customers coming in and out. The place looked up kept, it wasn't too loud. It looks fairly new and clean inside. Tables were clean and seats were comfortable. There's a back room where they can seat big parties or be in a private area. I highly recommend this for your next visit in the area. Please make sure to get duck!!! Sooo good!
